Personal Profile
My Medical / Hospital experience was obtained at the Royal Brisbane Hospital where I was exposed to 10 months as Surgical Registrar in Charge of Casualty, three six month terms as a General Surgical Registrar and 3 six month terms as an Orthopaedic Registrar.
I have been in Private Surgical Practice since 1977. I have been a Specialist Surgeon since 1973 however. I have a large established Private Consulting and Surgical Practice now based in the outer Brisbane Suburb of Sunnybank to which I moved in 1988. Prior to that I conducted my Practice from Wickham Terrace in Brisbane City.
My Practice included being a Professional Assistant to various Surgical Specialists including General Surgeons, Orthopaedic Surgeons and Vascular and Head and Neck Surgeons over a period of 15 years. I have always researched complex operations prior to surgery, even where I was the Assistant rather than the Surgeon. I conducted my first obesity operation in 1979 and have continued to perform weight loss operations ever since, practicing in several different areas before establishing a weight loss clinic at Sunnybank. I conduct every part of the process with help as required from other Professionals, however all steps of the preparation and
surgery and all post-operative visits are personally run by me.
I attend workshops on a regular basis and conduct peer review procedures to establish a level of excellence in this field.
The satisfaction I feel with the success of patients’ weight loss, and the massive changes it makes to their lives, is a driving force for me and my staff. Longevity, added to an improved quality of life is a dividend for patients, their families and our clinic.
